Um, yeah

I may have spent every free moment knitting so I totally forgot about Bookworm Wednesday....I will make up for it tomorrow, promise!

Instead, here is a funny convo from earlier:

Mom - you coming to the barn?
Me - yep, going to put my boots on now....
Mom - you going to put actual pants on?
Me - nope, who is gonna see me?  Rumby?

I should note here that I had (boxer) shorts on.  And we live way back from the road on a 17 acre horse farm, if anyone is coming up to see me, and they get past the dogs, they are probably someone I don't mind seeing me in shorts.  :)

My walk!

I went on a walk today to scope out some trails....well one really long trail.  haha  enjoy the pictures ;)

I wonder if I could make it up there to sit in that little alcove?

Think of how tall a telephone pole is....now realize that is how high up in the hills this trail went at times

They weren't chained because people steal them....they were chained so they couldn't fall down the hill.

The road is 35...Now look in the distance.  The white building on the left is the county prison.  The green roofed building on the right is the state prison.  Yep.

THIS was my goal point!  I MADE it!!!

See?  I did get to it!

Dear Ross County, you have odd graffiti.

On the way back....my trail to nothing.

I was so happy I wore a sweatshirt for these moments!  The wind kept it pretty cool, but it was even colder in the shade.

This is actually part of a private drive that is part of the trail.

Hm.  Wonder where that path goes....

I want to explore this old barn so bad!

People live along the trail....they're nice haha

The last little hill up to my Jeep!  It was much steeper going up than down, I swear!  haha

Baby Showers Make My Ovaries Cry ha!

Today I got to go back up to Dayton to celebrate with one of my best friends!  Her baby girl is due March 26th and I absolutely can not wait for Miss Lexi to get here so that I can spoil her rotten!  haha

I've been quiet here on the blog during the move and then my laptop crapped out on me so I had to suck it up and get a new one.  Thankfully I found a wonderful HP on sale and it is huuuuuge compared to my little netbook that I was using!  :)  I'm quite in love....but at this point I don't have a way to get pictures or bookmarks or anything off the other laptop so I'm rebuilding all of the above on this new one.

Elroy is adjusting to living here on the farm.  I feel bad that he is in my room most of the time so I try and get him out into the main part of the house as much as possible.  He's rather afraid of my dad's dog Katie so as soon as he sees her, he is usually on his way back to my room anyway.  Oh well.  I try.  Cody seems to be over the moon about me being here, but he doesn't sleep in bed with me too much anymore.  My bed sits up super high, so he usually opts for my couch which now sits in my bedroom.
My days have a comfortable routine at this point.  Wake up, feed El and Cody, let Cody out, help mom in the barn if she needs it, play with crafty stuff/catch up online, eat lunch with mom and/or clean the house for her if she's at work, mess around with anything that needs done until it is time to feed the horses then it is dinner time and the evenings I knit usually.  Speaking of knitting, here is a photo dump....

I taught myself lace knitting stitches!  Go me!

This is what I have done on my Springtime Bandit.  I think it is funny how lace shawls usually start out looking a bit like stingrays....

This is the beginning of a test knit that I signed up for on Rav.  I really like it!

This was one of the very last days in my apartment....and one of my go-to outfits in the winter.  Jeans, thermal, green sweater, pink scarf.  Can you see how wrinkly my jeans look?  That's because they are so dang big on me!

As I was cleaning, I found this picture of me.  It is probably one of my favorite pictures ever of myself.  I'm so genuinely happy!

I love love love love this picture of B and Abby!  They are such a great pair of troublemakers!

I'm slightly obsessed with this scarf.  Neon pink AND grey giraffes?!?!  Hell to the yes!

Who knew ceiling fans could be so interesting?

And, finally, I took this today on my way to Allicen's baby shower.  I love that because of my face I can wear big sunglasses, they're my favorite!  I also really love this grey sweater from Old Navy!  :)

I hope everyone is having a delightful weekend!  I'm looking forward to the Oscars tomorrow, I'm such an awards show junkie!  :)

Bookworm Wednesday!

Hi!  It is Wednesday....and a Bookworm one at that!  haha

I don't have a picture this week but I just thought I would share what is currently on my nightstand since I can pick up and read just about anything on it at any given time....

I picked up Girl with a Dragon Tattoo and...the second one (sorry, I can't think of the name...) at Target before I moved from Dayton because I caught them on sale for $6 each.  I had to get them for that price.  I haven't started either of them yet, but they are high up on my read list so I will pick them up soon.

I have Scottish Prisoner which is the latest in the Outlander series from Ms. Gabaldon.  I love love love love this series!  When I first found it, there were six (seven?) books out already and they are seriously like 900 pages or more long.  I read them all within a month.  Now, I wait, rather impatiently, for the next one to come out.  This is a series that I don't want to end.  Ever.  If you like romance with a lot of history then this is a *fantastic* series!

I still have Dingley Falls on my nightstand too, I'm slowly making my way through this.  It helps that the chapters are insanely short so I can easily stop and start since I go by chapters.  It is still, um, interesting.  Definitely catches me off guard rather quickly.

My Nook is over there too but I haven't picked it up in a while, since I finished my last book.  I haven't started a new one on there yet, but I already have probably 30-ish books on my "Unread" shelf to go through.  I tend to download the Free Book Friday selection each week even if I don't know if I will read it.  You never know...

And finally, I have my orange knitting folder.  I see knitting charts when I close my eyes now.  I'm currently trying to fumble my way through two lace projects and they are both kicking my ass.

I will be back with regular posts soon, now that I'm back at the farm I tend to be outside a lot, or just not in front of a computer that often.  Today is a rarity because I finally hit a wall with the knitting that I just needed to think about something else.  I also have the most random conversations with my parents so that may become something I write about quiet often.  Here is another little convo that happened last night...

(after dinner, still sitting at the table with my mom & dad)
Dad - So, what's for desert?
Me - well, mom ate the last no-bake....
Dad - not what I asked.  I asked what was for desert.
Me - I have peanut butter m&m's hidden in my room.
Dad - well, then, I will come visit you this evening....we will bond....over peanut butter m&m's.

A pretty standard convo....

(while we sit on the couch watching InkMasters on Spike....)

me - Does it piss you off that when I get married, no matter what dress I pick, you will most likely see at least one of my tattoos?
mom - Yes.  I will find makeup to cover them.

yep.  That's pretty normal conversations for us.  Slightly funny, slight mean.  :)

hi.

I'm still here but life has been throwing me punches lately!

I don't have a laptop at the moment which breaks my heart because if I can't get it to work then I've lost probably well over 100 bookmarks.  It is really hard to type out blog posts in the middle of the great room at the farm....this is my little, private corner of the internet and I don't necessarily want anyone reading over my shoulder.

I got moved, I turned in my keys on Tuesday evening.  I'm kind of ok....but I did say to someone that I may be ok with it now because of the turmoil I lived through last week.

About that week.....it hurt me beyond belief to see my friends going through the sadness and anguish of losing a life long friend.  It breaks my heart that, at 25, I've gone to many funerals for friends....even one would be one too many.  I just hate it more than I can put into words.  I'm, however, unbelievable thankful that I grew up in a community that was great for developing such deep relationships that will truly last for all of my life.

With all that said....I will be back as soon as I'm able.  Promise :)

Each little heartbreak leaves a scar forever.

When I was in high school, all of the other schools in the county had some horrible tragedies.  In my senior year alone, we were the only school that didn't lose a student.  The only one.  Since I've graduated, we've made up for that fact....

In 2004, my very dear friend Brandon died from complications with his diabetes.  Just a year later, almost to the day, my life long friend Bradley died in a car accident.  In 2005, Brett died in Iraq where he was serving as a Marine, something he had wanted to be his whole life.  And now, today, I've learned that someone I've known my whole life killed himself. I hate the fact that I go back to my hometown for funerals, but I'm so blessed that growing up in such a small town has built such a great support system for when these things happen.

Tonight, I'm going to go to bed with a heavy heart, and with his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.

Randoms

It just hit me that I haven't worked on my 12 in 12 for this week.  Thanks, moving and general crafty add.

I am teaching myself how to knit lace.  Kinda pumped about it.  Susannah has been my go-to answer gal on Twitter lately!  Thanks Lady!  You're the best!

My favorite part of the day right now goes a little something like this: Feed El at around 7, go back to bed and fall back asleep, wake up anywhere from 20 minutes to three hours later.....with El sleeping on my feet.  I say, "hi baby"....he does this little, why you gotta wake me up mom meow.  Cutest.Thing.Ever.

Attempting to learn Skype so I can have chat dates with my ldb!

Getting inspired from Pinterest.  I'm addicted.  I've been making new headbands, new hair pins, new everything!  Hobby Lobby stopped carrying the bobby pins I was using so I'm having to re-do my bobby pin line on Scarlett Key....that's ok though, just making me be more creative!

I showed my apartment to two people today.  Both of them are applying but I secretly hope this gal named Samantha gets it.  She is like me....I mean, just like me.  haha

I've been reconnecting with old friends from back home and it feels great!  I need to remember that my friends are a great support system and I can rely on them for things.  I don't always have to be the rock for everyone while not letting anyone be my rock.

Bookworm Wednesday!

So, um, have you heard I'm moving?  haha, literally the only book I have in my apartment right now is Dingley Falls, which I talked about the other week.  So, until my books don't look like this in a whole other house, BWW is on hold....probably only two weeks max :)  Thanks for bearing with me!
